From collecting dozens of bags of trash around Washington Lakes to raising funds for Southwest Virginia STARS, CNX employees added new community initiatives and organizations to Impact, its annual season of giving, while increasing support for food pantries and children and families in need during the holiday season.

Impact is a fundamental part of CNX’s Appalachia First vision to advance communities across our region. This kind of tangible, impactful, and local investment in the region CNX is proud to call home is how everyone can realize the wide variety of opportunities created by a natural gas-driven economy.

Over the course of the 2023 year-end Impact campaign, employees achieved the following:

  • Donated over $100,000 between CNX employees and CNX Foundation
  • Donated 744 toys
  • Provided 107 Christmas mornings for kids who otherwise wouldn’t have had anything under the tree
  • Provided 115 Thanksgiving dinners to veterans and their families
  • Collected 74 bags of trash, 18 tires and several appliances from around Washington Lakes
  • Packed 10,000 bags of food at Food Helpers for children to take home over the holiday break
  • Raised $1,500 for the West Greene School District Food Pantry
  • Raised nearly $3,000 for the Southwest Virginia STARS
  • Raised over $2,000 for Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre
  • 44 employees volunteered for local humane societies
  • Donated 2,399 food items to Corner Cupboard Food Pantry
  • Packed and donated 56 bags for foster children

“Part of the goal of Impact is to have employees help direct support to the communities, causes and organizations they are most passionate about and see the most need,” said Hayley Scott, Chief Risk Officer of CNX. “This year it was great to see our number of volunteers increase, as well as the inclusion of so many new causes. It’s a wonderful opportunity for employees to volunteer their time and guide financial giving to areas where they see the most need.”

Through the program, participating employees work with CNX leadership to identify specific community areas of most impact. Each year, the campaign begins in mid-November and wraps at the end of the year.

“Part of embracing the Appalachia First mindset includes committing your time and resources in ways that are meaningful to you, and making an impact in your community,” said Scott. “With the support of CNX Foundation behind them, our employees are able to make real change over the course of six weeks for the causes they care about. It’s incredibly heartening.”
